I RECENTLY found myself alone and unable to eat as I didn’t have any food in the house and had to wait until the next day until getting a food bank voucher redeemed.

I hadn’t ate in a day or two and was absolutely starving.

I contacted a Facebook page called changing lives on our doorstep which is a group that people can donate items to (usually furniture and clothes) for people in our community.

After hearing my predicament the admins set up an urgent appeal for some food and within five minutes of posting there was immediate offers of people wishing to donate.

This kind act of charity, and the response of those people alone was enough to completely overwhelm me and within 30 minutes of contacting the page someone had arranged to bring over a hot meal.

By the end of the night two people had came and sorted out enough groceries that I didn’t even need to use the food bank at all.

I wanted to share my story because I have never been prouder to live in St Helens with such an amazing and helpful community, one that really comes together in a time of crisis in someone’s life.

I will always be grateful to those that helped out.
