ON Bank Holiday Monday, I visited my father’s grave in St Helens Crematorium which is situated close to the grave of Violet-Grace, the young girl who was knocked down and killed on Prescot Road.
Imagine my disgust upon seeing at the side of the bench dedicated to Violet a pile of dog excrement left by some scumbag dog owner who could not take the trouble to clean up after their dog.
The time now has surely come to ban all dogs from our cemeteries and public parks. There is no reason to take dogs with you to visit a grave; leave them at home.
Cemeteries are for the deceased and bereaved, not to take dogs for walks.
St Helens Council need to get the situation dealt with and do what a lot of councils in the North West have already done and have a complete ban on dogs in public places.
