THE cuts from central government meant that council tax had to be raised to try and offset some of the money lost.

However, there are even more cuts from Westminster to come which outweigh the tax hikes – meaning we are paying more for even less service. £90million has been lost in council funding since 2010 which is nearly hitting a 50 per cent reduction in funding.

The reality is that austerity is impacting everyone and every area of the country and it hasn’t actually achieved anything.

Debt is up, the deficit won’t go away and tax revenue is at an all time low because work doesn’t pay.

A low wage, low tax, gig neoliberal capitalist economy that reaps the profits and rewards for the top one per cent while the rest of us pay for it through cuts to our services.

That’s how it is.

Massive change is needed.

Trickle down economics has failed and wealth doesn’t trickle anywhere except to tax havens.
