CLOCK Face Miners’ hopes of making the NCL division 3 play-off took a significant blow when they were defeated 40-0 away at Stanningley.
Clock were under pressure from the start when an error at kick off gifted possession to Stanningley who subsequently scored under the sticks.
Clock showed some resolve however and worked their socks off in defence for the next 30 minutes. But, the big Stanningley forwards began to make headway and by half time had racked up a 30-0 scoreline.
Clock showed some inventive play in attack after the break with the neat footwork of Lewis Geraghty creating gaps in the Stanningley line.
But, were left deflated when the home side scored a breakaway try and on 51 minutes the home team racked up the 40. Clock showed some resolve to keep the home side scoreless for the remaining 29 minutes but, just couldn’t find the spark to break through the Stanningley defence.
