LIVERPOOL St Helens withstood a Tyldesley comeback to hold on for a 24-18 victory on Saturday.

The bonus-point victory means LSH stay second in South Lancs/Cheshire Division One as they go into Saturday’s ‘derby’ at West Park in fine form.

Tyldesley did take an early lead as a quick-tap penalty caught the hosts off guard, but LSH responded immediately when Dan Webster sent Mark Potter over.

Adam Gore dived over for a try converted by Dan Filson to give LSH a 12-5 lead, which was reduced after the break with a catch-and-drive effort from Tyldesley.

However, Filson scored a delightful try to put LSH back in control before Rob Mitchell crashed over to ensure the bonus point.

Another catch-and-drive effort from the visitors ensured a grandstand finish, but LSH held on.
