WEST Park could not follow up victory against Eccles last time out as they crashed to defeat at the hands of Rochdale.

The result means Park are flirting dangerously with relegation from the North One West as they sit 12th in the table with two games remaining.

They fell behind early thanks to Oli Coldman's penalty for Rochdale, but Lee Rosney replied in kind for the hosts to level matters.

An even game broke out as both defences held firm, but the visitors looked sharper in the backs division and it showed when James Duffy crept through a gap to score.

However, Park responded well and a surge by the forwards created the chance for prop Kurt Riley to touch down.

Rosney could not convert, so Park trailed by two points.

Just before the break, however, Coldman crossed to extend Rochdale's lead and Park turned round for the second half nine points behind.

Richard West added another try to put the visitors fully in command before Ross Hartley's score gave Rochdale a bonus point and complete control at 31-8.

Park did have the last laugh when Danny Green intercepted a pass to race home from 40 metres.

Rosney added the conversion, but it was another damaging defeat for Park in their battle to avoid the drop.

They now face a crucial trip to Altrincham Kersal, who sit directly above them in the table, on Saturday, kick off 3pm.
