MATT Crehan, chairman of St Helens Sutton AC, just missed out on a course record on Saturday.

He was aiming to set a new mark at the St Helens parkrun, but fell just two seconds short.

He did, however, finish more than four minutes ahead of second place with a time of 15mins 20secs.

Amy Corfield also ran a parkrun event in Stretford, clocking an impressive time of 19mins 20secs.

At the Mad Dog 10k in Southport, Collete Flaherty was the first Sutton runner home in 53mins 49secs, with Janet Holmes just behind her in 59mins 57secs.

Michaela Hankinson finished just outside the hour mark, clocking 1hr 4secs, and Jane Makin rounded off Sutton’s representation by finishing in 1hr 19mins 7secs.
