SUTTON athletes have been competing all over the north.

Juniors took part in various age categories at the Northern Cross Country Relays at Graves Park in Sheffield.

Daisy Ward led off the under 11s girls and finished the 1,500m circuit in 6mins 28secs.

Chloe Leigh-Mark (6mins 48secs) took over, with the team being brought home by Poppy Handley-Hicking (5mins 49secs).

Next up was the under 11s boys, led off by Liam Johnson (6mins 20secs) followed by Joe Colley (6mins 38secs) and brought home by Gabriel Mullens (5mins 39secs).

First off for the under 15s boys was Charlie Roberts (7mins 47secs), who handed over to Joe Byrne (8mins 19secs), with Michael Brussels bringing the team home (8mins 27secs).

Over in Cumbria, ultra runner Collette Flaherty took on the Ennerdale 50k and Storm Brian, finishing fifth woman overall.

A team of five took on Warrington Running Club’s Autumn five-miler at Colliers Moss.

Sutton achieved a one, two with Matt Crehan setting a course record 28mins 39secs, followed in by Tom Griffiths in his first race back after injury in 29mins 45secs.

David Twigg was ninth (32mins 59secs), Andrew O’Connor 26th (38mins 23secs) and Janet Holmes 127th (52mins 15secs).
