RAINFORD'S comprehensive 10 wicket win at Prestatyn means they are promoted to the Premier Division as Liverpool Gin Liverpool Competition Division 1 Champions. Never having been out of the top three all season, successes in the last few weeks have taken them above long time leaders Highfield, just at the right time.

Saturday’s win after bowling Prestatyn out for 86, saw three more wickets from an on-fire Stephen Birkett and five from the ever reliable Andy Davies. Skipper John Dotters bagged two to take his season’s tally to 74, the highest wicket haul in the Division. Leading run scorer Paul Farrar hit 64 not out as Rainford coasted home to the title.

Rainford now prepare for another venture into the ECB Premier Division with President Tony Ford optimistic about the club’s prospects.

“This is basically the same set of lads that took us up two years ago and they are now two years older and we hope, two years wiser. Certainly they are more experienced and have shown this year that they are playing better cricket.

"In addition, the input and influence this year of David Snellgrove, although not playing through injury, has been very significant. We look forward to his contribution next year."
