AFTER an indifferent second half of the season Rainford have regained their early season form in the last couple of weeks and the hard fought three wicket win over Wigan on Saturday leaves them requiring just a handful of points in the final two games for a return to the Liverpool Gin Liverpool Competition Premier Division for the third time in seven years.
John Dotters (7 for 30) and Andy Davies (3 for 68) proved the undoing of the visitors as Wigan were bowled out for 154.
Matt Bailey (38) and Paul Farrar (38) gave Rainford an excellent start but wickets then fell at regular intervals leaving Rainford precariously positioned at 130 for 6.
The tense crowd needn’t have worried.
Ellie Threlkeld, now a regular pick behind the stumps in the Rainford first team calmly saw her side home together with Dan Houghton who joined Ellie after the loss of the seventh wicket, promptly scored the winning runs with a six.
