RAINFORD'S draw at Lytham finally signalled their relegation from the Liverpool Competition top flight. After a promising start with wins against New Brighton and Northern, very little else went right for them and despite their best efforts they will, after hosting new ECB Premier League Champions Leigh next week, start 2017 in Division 1.

On Saturday Ravi Mistry (59) and John R Williams (27) helped Rainford to 204 before Lytham finished on 192 for 7, Dan Houghton taking 3 for 32.

The 2nd X1 also drew with Lytham 2nds. Anthony Reid (61) Ellie Threlkeld (52) and Ehren Agarwal (27) contributed to their 223 for 7 declared. In reply Lytham reached 154 for 7, Mark Farrar (3 for 11) and Andrew Harrison (3 for 38).

The club has also confirmed that they have signed David Snellgrove from Bootle, to lead their 2017 campaign.
