St Helens Sutton A.C successfully hosted the first round of the Liverpool & District Cross Country Union at Sherdley Park on Saturday.
Clerk of the course and Senior Athletes Coach Ray Vose had devised a challenging 8.3K Course.
It was nice to see Tom Griffiths returning to race action for the club after his recent injury.
Tom was first counter for the team in 11th position (29m45s).
Ever dependable Steve Anders was next up in 16th (31m13s), followed by the fast finishing Chris Birkett in 19th (31m56s).
Michael Brussels posted 32m38s for 25th position, with Barry Graney 65th and Karl Allender 73rd completing the scoring Six in times of 38m55s and 40m32s respectively.
The team finished 3rd behind 2nd placed Wirral A.C. and Winners Liverpool Harriers , Nine teams closed in.
They were supported by Sarah Birkett 77th (41m.00s) and latecomer Alan Mahoney 90th in 43m21s.
Elsewhere two club members decided to test their fitness over longer distances, competing in the Delamere Night Runner Trail Half Marathon, Liam Major earned a Podium position by finishing 3rd in a time of 1 hour 31 minutes 30 seconds and Ian Hayburn ran the Gruelling, Hilly Snowdonia Marathon in 3 hours 28 minutes 20 seconds.
