SAINTS coach Paul Wellens has given an update on a trio of absent players ahead of Saturday’s Super League play-off game at Warrington.
And it is a mixed bag of news across the three players.
Definitely out of action for Saturday is hooker Moses Mbye, who pulled his calf in the warm-up to last Friday’s match at Leigh and had to be swiftly exchanged for Jake Burns.
Wellens said: “Moses is a three-to-four week injury, so it is probably one of those that should we make it to a Grand Final he could be in contention.
“Anything before that we are factoring him out. It is an unfortunate one because he’s an important player for us.
“As this season has thrown up it is a different challenge that we have had to overcome.”
Wellens explained that there were hopes that second row Curtis Sironen could be in the running for a return – dependant on how he responds to training this week.
He said: “With Curtis, he is making good improvements and running with physios today.
“A lot will be determined by how he responds to that running session.
But it is better news on prop Alex Walmsley, who missed Leigh with a bout of sickness and has now recovered from his bout of sickness.
