TOMMY Makinson was close to tears as he saluted Saints fans following what could be his final home game in the red-vee.
The 32-year-old winger was understandably emotional as he recorded a video message on a phone in front of fans in the West Stand.
It followed Saints’ impressive eight-try victory over Castleford, which moved Paul Wellens' side up to fourth place in the Super League table.
Makinson applied a typical silky finish to round off a move for a second half try - a touch down which delighted team-mates and spectators alike.
After 14 seasons, Friday night was potentially the veteran Saints player's final home game ahead of a move to Catalans at the end of this campaign.
However, he could get another chance to say farewell at home in the play-offs if Saints can defeat Leigh next week and other results go their way.
Speaking to the camera, as spectators roared When the Saints go Marching in, Makinson - in a message shared on Instagram, said: “Wow, wow, wow - Saints thank you so much.
“Last home game - hopefully one more but, yeah, get behind us for the rest of this year and never write us off, we’ll keep on going for you and thanks for all your support - we love you.”
Makinson later led the dressing room singalong, with the club posting a video on social media.
