RAINFORD's Ellie Threlkeld has become the first player to make 100 appearances for Lancashire Thunder.

The 25-year-old wicket keeper, who was made captain of Thunder ahead of the 2022 season, was presented with a special commemorative cap before Sunday's game against Northern Diamonds at Southport.

With her proud parents and teammates watching on, Threlkeld received her cap from fellow wicket keeper and former Lancashire and England player, Warren Hegg.

On presenting the cap, Hegg, said: "It gives me great pleasure to do this and it's a great honour to be with a fellow wicket keeper who I've got very close to over the last five years.

"Ellie typifies everything that Lancashire cricket is all about - she's brave, she's strong, she's determined, she's skilful and she's passionate about what she does and that is why she's played 100 games.

"I think Ellie is one of the best wicket keepers in the country and I still think she's got greater things to achieve but 100 games for Thunder and the Lancashire Women is a really special occasion and I think everyone should strive to play as many times as possible.

"It's been wonderful watching you play and develop and blossom and it gives me great pleasure on behalf of everyone at Lancashire Cricket to present you with this cap."
