SAINTS loose forward Morgan Knowles has been awarded a testimonial year by the RFL for 2025 after serving a remarkable 10 seasons with the club.

Ulverston-born Knowles joined Saints through the club’s scholarship programme as a 14-year-old – graduating through the junior ranks to make his first team debut in the Challenge Cup game against York in 2015.

The following year he broke through as a fully-fledged first teamer making 24 appearances for Keiron Cunningham’s side.

There has been no shifting him since with the international loose forward winning every domestic honour in the game in his time at Saints – including the four-in-a-row Super League titles and the 2021 Challenge Cup.

The icing on the cake was Saints’ victory over Penrith Panthers on their own midden to lift the 2023 World Club Challenge.

Knowles has been on a journey from Barrow Island to Saints via Blackbrook, but he expressed his pride and delight at being granted a testimonial year from next season.

He said: “I'm absolutely delighted to have been at Saints for 10 years in the first team and be granted a testimonial year in 2025.

“I've felt extremely lucky and privileged to have had such success at a terrific club like St Helens.

"From coming through the ranks at Scholarship and the Academy I have developed as both a player and a person, and the club has been such a huge part of my life.

“I would like say thank you to everyone at the club, and I'm really excited for the year ahead."

Saints CEO Mike Rush praised Knowles' efforts in the red vee since first joining the club.

Rush said: “From day one, Morgan has come through our doors and been remarkable with his efforts on and off the field for the Club.

“He is a player who lifts those around him, leading from the front, and I believe he is one of the very best loose forwards in world rugby league.

“He might be a Cumbrian native, but St Helens is home to Morgan, and he has so often over the years played his part in our community, and continues to be a big supporter of charities in the region.

“We all wish him well with his Testimonial Year ahead, and I’m sure our fans will support it wholeheartedly.”
