SAINTS prop Matty Lees returned home from hospital on Saturday night after being be checked over following a knock he received in the game against Huddersfield which left him coughing up "a little bit of blood".

He is reported to be recovering well.

Lees came off midway through the first half after taking a bang to the chest and coughed up blood which prompted the doctors to send him to hospital for checks on the night.

Coach Paul Wellens explained on the night that Lees was one of the players who took ill during the week, but he had put his hand up for the team.

He said: “He took a bit of a bang to the chest and coughed up a little bit of blood which is not a great sign.

“We chose to remove him from the field.

“The doctors sent him to the hospital to get some checks because it is important to make sure there is nothing untoward there."
