SAINTS centre Konrad Hurrell missed the win over Salford after picking up a slight disc bulge in his neck during the loss at Catalans last week.

He is waiting to see a specialist next week to assess the damage - with Saints taking no risks.

In his place, Saints slotted in the fit again Ben Davies after a long spell out injured.

Coach Paul Wellens explained: "Konrad had a bit of an issue with his neck and neck pain in in the week.

"And he’s had a scan that's revealed a slight disc bulge.

"What we need to do is send him to a specialist to get that seen and checked.

"As I'm sat here now, we're hopeful that that's not a big problem.

"Koni was very keen to play today, but what I am not in the business of doing is sending players out there when we have not got all of the information.

"We couldn't get him to see a specialist until next week so we have to be patient.

And just on that note, I thought Ben Davies came in and did a really good job.

"Ben's been out for a while and had it first came back at Swinton last week on dual reg and performed really well there.

"I thought he came in today and really put his hand up for us."
