PAUL Wellens was keen to attribute a certain aspect of his side’s game to his assistant coach.

The head coach says the acquisition of Frenchman Laurent Frayssinous has helped to identify areas of improvement in the world champions’ arsenal.

One of those was shown on Friday night during Saints’ home win over Wakefield Trinity.

The side scored two tries from scrum plays, with Tommy Makinson crossing in the first half and Konrad Hurrell in the second.

On this part of his side’s game, Wellens said: “It is something we practice, trying to execute and nail those opportunities and situations, and we did that really well.

“It is something we have worked on, and Laurent Frayssinous has been a big part of that.

“Since he came to the club he has been looking at different ways we can improve, and that is certainly one of them.

“So it was great to nail a couple of opportunities in that fashion.”
