SAINTS coach Paul Wellens has given an update on in the wars pack pair Sione Mata’utia and Jake Wingfield.

Mata'utia went off within the opening 30 seconds of the game and because he failed his HIA, he will go through th 11-day concussion protocol.

Loose forward Jake Wingfield, who did not play at Huddersfield has had scans on a troublesome shoulder and will be out for a so far unspecified period.

Wellens explained: "Jake had shoulder surgery last year and it is something that has been a problem for him.

"He has had a bang on that again, and he has had scans.

"It is looking like he will be missing for a few weeks.

"We don’t think he needs surgery to repair that - but a period of time to let that shoulder heal and get better.

"We are not quite sure of the timescale."

Wellens said that Mark Percival, who missed the game after suffering a tight calf in the warm-up the week previously will “probably” be back.

With Will Hopoate coming through his first Super League game strongly, Konrad Hurrell impressing after his ban and Jon Bennison not putting a foot wrong it will present a backline selection headache in the outside backs.

There was a little of that yesterday, with Tee Ritson dropping down to 18th man.
