SAINTS loose forward Morgan Knowles has lost his appeal against the Grade B charge handed to him by the Match Review Panel for a late tackle in last Friday's game against Hull FC.
The international number 13 will therefore miss Thursday night's trip to Huddersfield Giants as the one-match ban handed to him stands.
The independent tribunal on Tuesday night upheld the Match Review Panel’s decision after Knowles was charged with making dangerous contact with a Hull FC opponent.
The Match Review Panel had decided that the contact was reckless, posed an unacceptable risk of injury to the Hull FC player, and issued a one-match suspension.
In the appeal the club argued that Knowles' contact after the ball had gone was ‘careless’ rather than ‘reckless’ and made the case to downgrade the charge from B to A.
However, the independent tribunal found the grading to be correct and also issued Knowles a £500 fine.
Saints initially named a 20-man squad for the Giants game, pending appeal - but now have added Wes Bruines to the squad.
