SAINTS centre Ben Davies will be out of action for up to six weeks after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the win over Hull FC.

Although Mark Percival is a doubt, Saints will welcome back Will Hopoate, Konrad Hurrell and Sione Mata’utia for Thursday’s trip to Huddersfield.

Davies was in the wars, also sustaining a significant head injury in stopping Adam Swift from scoring in the corner.

Coach Paul Wellens said: “Ben has gone for a scan and has got ankle ligament damage so will be out for around five-six weeks recovery time, which is unfortunate.

“He had a fantastic game the other night and really toughed it out in difficult circumstances.

“It’s a blow for Ben but we have every confidence that he will work hard to get back fully fit.

“We are monitoring Mark Percival at the moment - he got a tight calf in warm-up and is nothing too serious.

“It may be a case where he doesn’t play this week but we are not completely ruling that out yet.

“We will give him every opportunity to make the game on Thursday - should that not be the case he will almost certainly play the week after.

Wellens said everyone else has come through the game ok after the weekend recovery.

He is pleased to get some players back this week - including Tongan international Hopoate, who has not played since the World Club Challenge win over Penrith.

“Will is back in full training and moving really well and integrated fully with the team.

“He probably could have played last week but we took the sensible option of keeping him out.

“We have Will Hopoate, Sione Mata’utia and Konrad Hurrell all back.

“It is a big boost for us,” he said.
