SAINTS coach Paul Wellens gave an injury update on his two listed centres from tonight's game against Hull FC.

International centre Mark Percival was pulled out after complaining of a tight calf in the warm-up while try scorer Ben Davies suffered a head wound and a knee injury.

Both will be assessed for the significance of those injuries - but Wellens paid tribute to the bravery shown by Davies tonight.

He said: "I can't give him enough credit tonight with how tough he played.

"He has a gash in his head with avout 15 stitches in there.

"He had that done at half time, but to then put his hand up and go back out at half time speaks volumes for his toughness.

"And then a knee injury sees him off.

"He's got a gash on the head and a pair crurches.

"We'll assess him in the week and see how he is - but I cant pay him enough credit."

Saints had already had to adjust the team with Tee Ritson getting a minute's notice that he was playing with Tommy Makinson taking Percival's place in the centre.

Wellens said: "Mark just came up with a tight calf in warm-up.

"He was saying 'I can play' but we are not in the business of taking silly risks with important players like Mark.

"We are not sure of the damage there - it could be nothing or it could be something a bit significant that we need to get checked out.

"But we were certainly not going to take any risks."

Saints will have Sione Mata'utia and Konrad Hurrell back for the trip to Huddersfield on Thursday.
