SAINTS coach Paul Wellens gave a fitness update on his players after today’s win at Castleford Tigers.

He explained why Mark Percival came off late in the game and came off and that Joey Lussick would have been fine to return if he had been required.

Saints had gone into the game without five members of the team that had won in Penrith.

Wellens said: "Mark Percival has a bit of a rolled ankle and we are going to have to get that checked out in the week, but we are hopeful that they will be ok."

Wellens also gave an explanation on some of today's other absentees.

Saints went into the game missing James Roby, Curtis Sironen, Will Hoppoate and Agnatius Paasi, with Tommy Makinson missing out after failing his HIA in the World Club Challenge.

Roby had a bang in that game and will benefit from the rest, but Wellens gave an update on the other revealing that is was sickness that kept Sironen out of action.

He said: “Sirro was just illness overnight - he trained yesterday and we thought he was good to go but he had a bit of a vomiting episode overnight, which is not ideal particularly given that we have come off the back of a tough week and energy is not at its highest point.

“To subject him to a game of that intensity whilst being ill would have been unfair on him and the rest of the group.

“In James Bell we had a more than adequate replacement who came in with a ton of energy and found a way to get the job done.

“Agnatius has a chance to play against Leeds - if not it will be Leigh.

“And Will Hopoate is looking more like the Leigh game, given his injury history and we want to give him the maximum time to recover.”
