NEWTON le Willows salvaged a draw at Rainhill as the two local rivals met in an exciting Liverpool Competition Premier League clash. 

Half-centuries from Tyler McGladdery (57) and Ross Higham (51) helped the hosts post 241-5 with Afaq Ali Sartaj picking up 4-71. Sam Kershaw's 4-23 ensured the visitors were in all sorts of trouble but Ben Walkden held firm with a battling 54 as Newton closed on 149-8.

In Division One, Rainford are third following a four wicket win over Highfield. John Dotters was the star again as he claimed his 10th league five-for of the season, as along with Liam Gaskell (4-38), his 5-21 helped dismiss the visitors for 92. 

St Helens Towns lie third in Division Two, 10 points off the promotion places, after they saw off Hightown St Mary's at Ruskin Drive. Opener Ryan Donnelly hit 54 as the hosts were bowled out for 153 with the modest target proving too much for the Sefton outfit thanks to Sharan Rajendran (5-37) and Craig Black (5-35).

Sutton suffered a bad day at the office after they were bowled out for 65 having chosen to bat at home to Alder who won by four wickets despite Alex Oldfield's 4-36. 

In the Souhtport and District League, there was a narrow defeat for Prescot and Odyssey after Nathan Dagnall's 3-28 helped restrict Burscough to 98-8 at School Lane. The target proved too much for the visitors who were bowled out for 86.

Adam Pennington's 53 contributed to Haydock's total of 159-9 off their 45 overs against Halsall West End. Babu Nallusamy took 3-30 but the hosts won by five wickets.
