RAINHILL sit sixth in the Liverpool Competition Premier League after drawing with Wigan at Bull Hey.

Tyler McGladdery top scored with 58 as the visitors posted 197-6 off 48 overs before bad weather saw Wigan close on 167-7 before there was a chance to force a result. Sam Kershaw took 4-21.

Newton le Willows faced a stiff task against Wallasey after the leaders raced to 190-5 off just 25.4 overs as they went in search of the points on a rain-affected afternoon. Rizwan Haider hit a brilliant 92 but when he was the last man out the hosts were 36 runs short.

In Division One, Rainford's hopes of promotion were struck a blow after a heavy defeat at Lytham. Put into bat, the visitors crumbled to 87 all out with the hosts able to knock off the runs for the loss of three wickets.

Sutton welcomed Division Two stragglers Parkfield Liscard to the New Street Oval with the visitors bowled out for 104 by Alex Oldfied (4-23) and Lancashire's Nat Brown (4-37). Adam Onion top scored with an unbeaten 49 as the hosts claimed a seven wicket win.

In the Southport and District Premier Division, Haydock's Graham Paterson picked up 3-27 but that was as good as it got for the hosts against Merseyside Commonwealth Conference who made 161 all out before bowling out the home side for just 43.

There was better news for Prescot and Odyssey who came away from Birkenhead St Mary's with an eight wicket win after fine bowling from Paul Dagnell (4-17) and Nathan Dagnell (3-28) helped dismiss the hosts for 110. An unbeaten 56 from Dominic D'Oliveira sealed the victory.
