RAINHILL look to have got their season back on track with a second consecutive win in the Love Lane Liverpool Competition Premier League.

Tyler McGladdery (39) top scored with good support from Sam Kershaw (37) and Dan Kelly (32) as they reached 190 for nine declared at home against New Brighton. Imliwati Lemtur (5-67) and Peter Kelly (5-58) then spun a web to ensure a narrow 12 run victory.

Newton le Willows looked good for the win at Leigh after posting 230 for nine off 60 overs with Ben Walkden's 56 the highlight. But the hosts were content to bat out for the draw reaching 150 for five in reply. 

Rainford are third in Division One following a commanding victory Spring View who were dispatched for just 75 after a brilliant bowling display from John Dotters who took 8-21. Jason Login's unbeaten 42 sealed a nine wicket win.

Division Two saw Sutton's promotion push stall following a great game at the New Street Oval against Old Xaverians. A brilliant unbeaten century from opener Joe Smith (112no) allowed the hosts to declare on 202 for nine from 54.2 overs but Old Xavs' batters kept up with the rate and reached the target for the loss of four wickets in the 44th over.

Sharan Rajendran took 6-53 for St Helens Town as they dismissed leaders Maghull for 162 at Ruskin Drive. The host's reply never really got going and they were bowled out for 121.

In the Southport and District Premier Division, Prescot and Odyssey lie third after a narrow six run defeat to Skelmersdale. Kurt Sabela (3-10) and Harry Rigby (3-27) restricted the hosts to 118 all out before the visitors reached 112 for nine off their 45 overs. 

Haydock's Harry Cross struck 92 as his side posted 156 for nine but the target proved within reach of Hesketh Bank who sealed a four wicket win in the 40th over.
