SAINTS trio of injury absentees Regan Grace, Will Hopoate and Sione Mata’utia are all progressing well and should all be back in the fold ahead for the Salford game a week on Friday or the semi final against Wigan.

Grace has yet to play in Super League this year having missed the early rounds after bicep surgery – only to pick up a hamstring injury in his comeback game in the Challenge Cup at Whitehaven.

Mata’utia, who started the season strongly, picked up a hamstring injury in the win over Warrington in March and has been sidelined since.

Hopoate has had three injury spells, from hamstring to a fractured rib cartilage, and has missed the last two games since playing in the Challenge Cup win against Catalans.

Coach Kristian Woolf gave an update on the trio today.

He said: “Regan is coming along really well and has been doing his running at his highest speed as part of his rehab and recovery.

“He is in a really good position and he will be available in the next week or two.

“Will Hopoate has been a little bit unlucky having not had an injury for three years but has picked up a number of injuries that have stopped him.

“He is in a really good place at the moment – similar to Reegs in the sense that he has run really well this week and done a lot of metres, and some high-speed metres as well.

“He was in a position to play this Friday, but given the fact that he’s had a couple of smaller niggles we thought it smart to give him another week.

“I would be very sure he’d be available for Salford next week.

“Sione is in the same boat – a week or two away.”
