After a dismal season Town decided to turn the form book upside down for the second week running, this time in the North West Counties Division One Cup as they hit Bacup Borough for six.

The first 10 minutes looked all too familiar for Town as Bacup dominated proceedings.

However, Town started to find their rhythm and took the lead when prolific leading goal scorer Elliott Hughes placed home a blocked shot on the 21st minute.

It only took another two minutes for Town to double their advantage thanks to a Ben Cartwright header.

Town continued to dominate and scored a third just four minutes later. That man again, Elliott Hughes smashing home from close range. Bacup reduced the deficit five minutes before half time as Anthony Hall successfully converted a penalty.

Town continued to put the pressure on Bacup and put the tie to bed on the 74th minute when substitute Dale Korie-Butler beat the outrushing Bacup keeper. Ten minutes later Korie-Butler was in on the action again adding the assist for Elliott Hughes’s deserved hat-trick.

Dale Korie-Butler sealed the victory in the 89th minute with a brace to make it 6-1 to the home side.
