SAINTS coach Kristian Woolf has indicated that Tommy Makinson will continue with the goalkicking duties this week against Wakefield.

The wingman kicked a perfect seven out of seven in the 38-6 victory at Hull FC last Saturday.

This was in contrast to the previous week when Saints missed five from six conversion attempts.

Lewis Dodd took over the role in pre-season after Lachlan Coote's departure, with Makinson and Mark Percival other options in the team with previous goalkicking excperience.

Woolf said Makinson stepped in to take over the role after Dodd suffered a strain in the build-up to the Hull match.

“Lewis Dodd had a slight little strain doing some practice last Wednesday so we had to put him on ice for those duties and Tommy’s obviously a very accomplished kicker and was happy to step in."

He admitted the impressive display could leave him with a decision to make down the line on who takes the attempts from the kicking tee.

"That’s one I’ll probably have to discuss with them because Tommy’s coming in kicking seven out of seven, you can’t look past that either, and Doddy’s not quite got back into full health where he’s started to do all that practice again," he added.

"It might be a case of Tommy continuing that this week at least and we have another look at it next week when we’ve got a little bit of a longer turnaround.”
