ON Day 15 of our Saints Advent feature here is a shot of the A team from the mid 1970s.
A couple of members of this team would go on to play test rugby league for Great Britain.
Prop Neil Courtney and Harry Pinner were both capped in the 1980s - with the latter skippering test team.
Unfortunately, Saints sold Courtney to Warrington before he came into his prime as a front rower, where he would get international recognition before joining Wigan.
Pinner, of course, would go on to become club captain.
Others would be staples of this A Team at Knowsley Road for several more years, giving sterling service to the second string as well as being on regular standby for the first team.
Among those stalwarts are Alan Ashton, Keiron Pickavance and Johnny Smith
Bill Boycott, on the left, is the coach.
