SAINTS' departing players were given the honour of being cheered off through a tunnel of applauding teammates and staff on their last ever appearance for the club at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Lachlan Coote and Kevin Naiqama, who played in the semi-final win over Leeds, were joined by Theo Fages, James Bentley, Joel Thompson and hooker Josh Eaves as they were cheered from the pitch.

St Helens Star:

For Coote and Naiqama they will get one more opportunity at Old Trafford to add to their two Grand Final rings and cap a fine three-year stint in the red vee.

Coote, who joins Hull KR on a two-year deal next year, relished hearing his song one last time from the West Stand at the end of the game.

Coach Kristian Woolf said: “There are a number of guys who have been a part of this team for a number of years now – and a really big part of the success as well.

“It was nice to see that at the end.

St Helens Star:

“But this team is a special group. I have sung their praises plenty of times.

“We all see what they do on the field but they do that because they really care about each other and that is what they showed there at the end.”
