WILDCARD ABC's schoolgirl Boxing sensation Niamh May claimed Gold in a terrific National Final in Newcastle to become to become the England boxing National Champion Cadet (formerly the ABAs).

Niamh’s fight for top spot started on Saturday afternoon with a tremendous semi final bout in which the 12-year-old Hope Academy student had to pick herself up off the canvas in the first round.

She showed true grit and determination to out-class her opponent with crisp clean shots and a wickedly accurate back hand.

Niamh won on a split decision and earned herself a spot in the next day's final.

On Sunday the youngster from Newton was determined she was going home with the title and in a battle of no less intensity than the previous day the Wildcard girl powered through every round.

Although met with stiff resistance from a game opponent Niamh's single minded focus, skill and sheer heart was enough to win the title by unanimous decision.

Niamh is now Wildcards Youngest Female national Champion and joins the clubs roll of honour as fifth female national champion.

Niamh will rest for a couple of days and be back in action at the weekend in a club bout in Hull with teammate Kyle Rushton.
