BILLINGE athlete Harry Coppell makes his Olympic debut in Tokyo tomorrow in the pole vault qualifying round.

The 25-year-old back-to-back British champion will be in action from 1.40am UK time.

Coppell has expressed his excitement ahead of the tournament - overcoming a mishap in training last week when the the bar crashed into his front teeth.

The former Chapel End school pupil is the current British record holder with a height of 5.85m. 

The pole vault qualifying stage is 31 July with the final on 3 August.
