SAINTS Betfred Super League Round 16 clash with Huddersfield Giants, due to take place on Wednesday, has been postponed under the Covid-19 protocols.

It follows on from last Friday's game againts Hull KR which was postponed after the Club announced three positive tests which subsequently led to a large number of the squad having to self isolate through track and trace and close contacts.

And St Helens were due to host Huddersfield Giants in Round 16 on Wednesday 28 July, but after further testing, Saints have now confirmed eight positive cases among players and staff and that has led to the majority of the first team squad now in isolation.

Likewise, Castleford are also dealing with a significant number of positive cases among the playing and coaching group and their fixture against Leigh Centurions the following evening has also been postponed.

Under the RFL’s Covid-19 protocols, a team can apply to postpone a match if seven or more senior players are unavailable as a result of Covid-19 – either through positive tests or as close contacts.

The postponed fixtures will be added to the list for possible rearrangement, although the Betfred Super League table is to be determined by win points percentage to allow for the possibility of not all fixtures being fulfilled.

Once given the all clear, Saints' next game will be at Hull on Monday, August 2.

Next home game will be against Catalans on Saturday, August 7.
