SAINTS prop Matty Lees is expected to be fit in time for the Challenge Cup Final against Castleford on 17 July.

The England Knights front rower suffered a broken ankle in the opening cup round against Leeds Rhinos in April and has missed the last eight weeks.

But coach Kristian Woolf says the prop, who missed out on Wembley in 2019 with a perforated bowel injury, is on track to make it this time around.

Woolf said: “I would certainly hope and expect that he would be back this time.

“We are hoping that he would be back a game or two before that and have a good run under his belt and have some confidence and be ready to go at Wembley.

“He missed out in 2019 but got the opportunity to make amends last year.

“Like every player he wants to be in the big games and he is a player we want for those big games.

“If all runs to plan, he will be back and available.”
