TENNIS is back and it’s been a very busy week of activity since lockdown restrictions allowed Rainford Tennis Club to re-open.

Junior coaching resumed, under the guidance of new Head Coach, Sarah Hillier with youngsters from across the St Helens area enjoying tennis coaching in the sunshine over the weekend.

Adult tennis is also permitted to take place with team players taking to the court for the first time this year as preparations start for the new HEAD Liverpool Tennis League which starts next month. This season Rainford will have teams in the top division in both Men’s and Women’s competitions both teams eyeing the chance for record league finishes.

“It’s shaping up to be a very exciting year for tennis” said Sarah Hillier. “It has been great to be back on court this week and to see to so many people wanting to play. We saw a 50% increase in membership this year and we are hoping even more new players will come and try tennis this year.”
