ENGLAND’S international against the Combined Nations All Stars on June 25 will fall on the same weekend as Saints’ trip to Hull KR - but national coach Shaun Wane says he will "help St Helens" when it comes to selection.

Although clubs will have the option to postpone fixtures should they have more than four players called up for international duty – it is more than likely that Saints would play on and promote young players to fill the gaps.

The RFL have set a loose figure of a combined six-player limit from one club for the fixture, with England getting first pick on the players before the All Stars select their side.

It is far from ideal, but England coach Shaun Wane has said that he does not want to put individual clubs under pressure.

Wane said: “I wanted a standalone fixture so that it didn’t put pressure on any Super League teams, but we didn’t get that and that is disappointing.

“The clubs, on the whole, have been really behind us and helped in every way that can.

“I will do everything I can to not put clubs under pressure – clubs like St Helens, Warrington and potentially Hull – are going to have a lot of players in.

“So, like I have said to the head coaches, if James Roby is absolutely killing the competition and is a dead set certainty for the World Cup then I will have a look at another hooker.

“If I can help St Helens out, or Wigan or Hull, then I will do that.

“That is the relationship we have got with most of the head coaches.”
