BRADFORD Bulls are to give a month's trial to former Saints and Wales international Anthony Walker.

The ex-Blackbrook junior retired from rugby league in 2017 after being diagnosed with a brain abnormality.

Walker, who has won six Wales caps, was forced to quit the game after scans revealed an abnormality that had been with him undetected since birth but he has since made a full recovery and has been cleared by the Rugby Football League to make his return.

The 29-year-old prop made his debut for St Helens in 2013, when he made 17 appearances, before moving to Wakefield in 2015 and also had spells with Whitehaven, Dewsbury and Rochdale.

Bradford and Wales head coach John Kear said: "Ant Walker has plenty of Super League experience and he played for me at Wales and Wakefield - I know him really well and he is a very good player.

"He had to sit out on medical grounds but he is completely clear and we are giving him a way back into professional rugby league and I am certain he will take that opportunity."

The Bulls are also giving a trial to Widnes back-rower Brad Calland, son of former Bradford player Matt Calland who is currently head coach of Rochdale.
