- The club gaining promotion from the Betfred Championship to Super League in 2021 will do so via points percentage rather than the number of points won.

- Championship club Halifax have signed back-row forward Sam Hewitt on a season-long loan deal from Super League neighbours Huddersfield.

- London Broncos are closing in on a new home at AFC Wimbledon – the 10th since the club’s formation in 1980 – but are set to play “on the road” when the season gets under way with the Betfred Challenge Cup in five weeks’ time.

- Former Wales fly-half Gavin Henson will become a target in rugby league, according to his former coach Clive Griffiths, who is also tipping him to make his mark in the 13-man code. Henson, 39, is coming out of retirement to play for third-tier part-timers West Wales Raiders

- Centre Liam Sutcliffe has completed a U-turn by committing his long-term future to Leeds Rhinos. The 26-year-old had submitted a transfer request last summer but has agreed a new three-year contract.

- Super League clubs will play 25 matches in the regular season in 2021, two fewer than originally planned.

- Leeds Rhinos have given a new two-year contract to 20-year-old utility back Jack Broadbent which will keep him at Headingley at least until the end of 2022.

- Warrington Wolves have released Tonga international Leilani Latu with a year left on his contract.

- Robert Elstone is to quit as executive chairman of Super League, paving the way for a return to a single governing body for rugby league.

- Former Hull KR captain Weller Hauraki has announced his retirement from rugby league.

- Wigan have become the third Super League club to close their training ground following a number of positive Covid-19 tests.

- New Zealand international centre Dean Whare has signed a two-year deal with Catalans.
