THERE were a few eyebrows raised when Saints brought over heavyweight prop Paul Anderson (Heritage Number 1149) from Bradford ahead of the 2005 campaign.
But what an inspired signing, with the big man's weighty contribution amounting to something far more significant than his one-off goalkicking party piece.
Baloo, subject of Day 11 of our Great Saints for February feature, was the cornerstone of the pack for two years, offering experience, a physical presence, fearlessness and trusty hands in 62 matches for the Knowsley Roaders.
Whenever the opposition kicked off during that 2006 Grand Slam winning season - finding Anderson for that first big, safer line-clearing carry was usually high on the agenda.
He had been part of the 'awesome foursome' winning titles at Bradford Bulls - and then did likewise combining with Jason Cayless, James Graham, Nick Fozzard and Maurie Fa'asavalu.
He signed off in style when adding the 2006 Grand Final success to the Challenge Cup won earlier that year.
A fine swansong in the red vee.
