SAINTS Community Development Foundation have appointed Barry Diggles as the new Learning Disability Rugby League Lead.

Diggles will work alongside LDRL Head Coach Gareth Foster with our current Learning Disability Rugby League Team.

The Learning Disability Rugby League Team aims provide all those in our Community with learning disabilities the chance to be part of a Rugby League side. The team has been involved in a number of events throughout the past 3 years.

The team then went on throughout their seasons playing other Super League and Championship LDRL Teams and taking part in an annual LDRL festival in Blackpool alongside playing at Anfield during the 2019 Magic Weekend.

The team provides the players with new opportunities, friendships and a chance to have fun, whilst playing the sport they love.

Diggles said: “My role is to work alongside head coach Gareth Foster, my main aim is to guide this successful LDRL programme and hopefully take it to a new level and to take the Learning Disability Rugby League forward.

“I absolutely cannot wait to get started! Last year i worked as the Assisant Coach of the LDRL Team and they’re a fantastic inspirational bunch of young players.

"I've coached in various levels of the game from juniors right through to seniors and even the international women's game, but these players are just something else considering the difficulties they face on a day to day basis.

“They are all so full of life and so willing to learn, and if they’re so willing to learn I’m delighted to be giving my time to better this fantastic LDRL team.”
