STEVE Price says Warrington Wolves are eager for the green button to get Monday night’s Super League game played against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.

Dragons chiefs, who have been dealing with five players and two staff returning positive Covid-19 tests this week, have said a final decision on the game will be announced on Saturday evening, but have amended the kick-off time to 6.30pm (5.30pm UK time) in light of the new curfew measures introduced by the French Government that means everyone is to stay at home from 9pm to 6am.

“They’ve got a few obstacles to overcome, supposedly we’ll know more on Saturday evening,” said Price.

“We’re desperate to play. We’re in good shape and we just want to keep building momentum.

“We’re being told the curfew’s 9pm until 6am. The game’s been brought forward to combat that. We’re all systems go, we’re ready to crack on. Hopefully we’ll get the green button and we’ll be on that plane.”

The Wire have not played since defeating Leeds Rhinos 32-6 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Tuesday, October 13, and Price says the time has been put to good use.

“I felt the break came at a really good time for us, for the boys to get away mentally and physically, to just freshen up,” said Price.

“They got a fair few days off.

“They’ve played a lot of footy since we’ve come back, from our break from Covid to our last game against Leeds.

“It did come at a good time. I feel the boys are refreshed and it’s displayed in their last two training sessions.

“We’re excited for the back end of the season now.”

Preparation has been as normal for a game this week. The players have the day off tomorrow and have their captain’s run – the final training session – on Sunday.
