THERE was plenty of action in the Warrington and District Football League at the weekend, with Avon maintaining the Premier Division’s only perfect record with a 2-1 win at Halton.

Wins for Croft and New Street moved them up the table while The Village and Haydock remain unbeaten after playing out a 2-2 draw.

Woolston and Sankey Vale drew 1-1 to complete the top-flight fixtures.

Halebank and Shevington continue to lead Division One – the former thrashed Bruche Athletic 6-0 while the latter edged a high-scoring game against Eagle JFC 4-3.

Newton-le-Willows and Runcorn sit third and fourth respectively after wins – Newton beat Halfway Rangers while Runcorn saw off Westgarth United.

Division Two leaders Rainhill Town kept up their 100 per cent record by edging out Winwick 1-0 while Bold Rangers and AFC Warrington racked up 4-0 victories over Penketh United and Eccleston Arms respectively.

Moorfield won 3-1 at home to Farnworth Griffin while Widnes Dragons slipped to a fourth loss in a row as they were beaten 4-0 by AFC Millbrow.

Reserve Division One saw Avon Villa keep up their winning form along with Haydock, Austins and St Michaels.

Whiston Veterans continued their 100 per cent start in Division Two while Penlake Reserves and Rainford Rangers both scored five away from home to win.
