HIGHLY regarded teenage scrum half Lewis Dodd finally got to make his senior Saints debut off the bench in last night's win over Wigan.
The teenager slotted in at hooker when James Roby went off in the last quarter - and impressed with his application and workrate.
The 18-year-old, who signed a new four-year deal earlier this season, had been lined up for a debut at scrum half earlier this month when Theo Fages was injured but was forced to miss out at the last moment due to self-isolation rules.
The half back, who joined the Saints’ Academy from Halton Hornets in 2017 was the star man in the Academy last year scoring 21 tries and kicking 116 goals.
Having trained impressively all season it was a matter of time before he got the nod - and given the fixture schedule more opportunities will arise in his natural half back position before the year is out.
Woolf said: “It was great to give Doddy a run for his debut. He has been knocking on the door for four or five weeks now. He really showed that he belongs there.
"He is smart when he has got the ball in hand and shows a lot of willingness to defend."
