DESPITE all the restrictions over the past four months due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the sport of tennis has been able to start playing again.
Participation numbers are up at venues across St Helens, none more so than at Rainford Tennis Club.
The club, which is situated at the Jubilee Recreation Ground, has seen more people starting to play tennis, as the sport offers a safe, healthy outdoor activity where it is easy to socially distance.
While there are strict guidelines to follow, the club have been able to offer small coaching groups, competitions and the chance for individuals and families to book courts to enjoy a fun social game of singles and doubles.
During this time as well, the club have also been able to secure a new club sponsor with Castlecourt Construction Ltd agreeing to support the club over the next three years.
Director of Castlecourt Construction Ltd, Sean Twist, said “Tennis is a wonderful outdoor healthy activity for families to enjoy.
“We are delighted to be helping Rainford Tennis Club over the next three years as they look to further increase the number of people enjoying the sport of all ages and abilities.”
