CLOCK Face Miners made the perfect start to the new NCL Division 2 season with a 26-18 win away at Hunslet Warriors.

The first quarter was tight with neither team commanding the arm wrestle but, Clock eventually broke the deadlock on 18 minutes when Michael Carney went through a gap to score out wide with Jack Highcock converting.

Hunslet pulled a converted try back however, two Clock tries in as many minutes on the stroke of half time swung the game in Clock's favour.

A long looping pass from Lewis Geraghty found Luke Leyden on the wing who raced in for a try.

Then a subtle Shaun Costello dummy opened up a gap for the loose forward to power over to give Clock a 14-6 half time lead.

Clock were well in command by the 50 minute mark with a second try for Carney and a try for Luke Forber who kicked and chased a loose ball, skillfully regathering to score under the posts. Hunslet reduced the deficit with two late tries but this was very much a convicing win for Clock Face.
