FRESH from their World Club Challenge exploits Saints bounce into their history-making clash against Sonny Bill Williams’ Toronto team on Saturday knowing that there is no room for complacency.

Coach Kristian Woolf is determined that his side will not be the Canadian-based Super League newcomers’ first scalp in the top flight when they face off at Warrington (6pm).

But he has warned that the quality in the Wolfpack ranks means that any team not on their game will “get their pants pulled down”.

Brian McDermott’s side has had well-publicised injury troubles in their winless start to the year spent away from Canada.

But with Sonny Bill back on board after returning from New Zealand following the birth of his fourth child, plus the addition of former Catalans outside back Tony Gigot, the Wolfpack put in a combative performance against Warrington last week.

The rallied from a 16-0 deficit to level on the hour mark, with Warrington needing two penalties and a late try take the spoils.

Woolf said: “They have come up from the Championship division and they are getting used to this level, so are always going to get better each week.

“But if you look at their squad they have some really class players.

“Obviously, Sonny Bill is their highest profile player and he is getting better with every game.

“Just watching the video from last week he had some nice touches against Warrington.

“He is not on his own. Ricky Leutele is a very good player as are Josh McCrone and Jon Wilkin – they also have plenty of strike in there.

“Any team that takes them lightly will get their pants pulled down – they are getting better and closer to a win and we have to make sure we play well and it is not against us.”

Leutele is a former Cronulla Sharks centre, winning the NRL Grand Final in 2016.

And a strong feature of the Wolfpack game is their offloading.

Williams is a big threat in that aspect - topping the Super League offload charts after four rounds.

But he is joined by teammates Hakim Miloudi, Adam Sidlow and Josh McCrone in the top 10 on that score.

Woolf said: “They attack from both ends of the field and in different ways.

“They attack with a bit of structure, but also with offloads.

Although Josh McCrone is their number one kicker thy have 10 or 11 other guys who have kicked this year so that makes them a little bit unpredictable.

"They play an attacking brand of footy so we have to be really good defensively when they have got the ball.

“We will ask our own when we have the ball.”

The game is the latest of Wolfpack’s on the road fixtures as they cannot play in their Toronto base until the spring, given the Canadian weather.

It was initially scheduled to be played at Saracens but was switched to Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium.
