LAST week saw the final track races of the season, as well as the end to summer of the summer road and fell race series as sadly the dark nights start to set in.

Jon-Jo Doherty who has been in supreme form all summer closed out both the Horrock Hill Race and the Knowsley Fab Four series with another set of impressive wins, securing himself the overall series win as well.

He wasn’t the only St. Helens Sutton A.C. athlete showing form at those series as Tom Griffiths secured second overall in both series but a close to what’s been a tough season of injuries.

Also, at the Knowsley series was the kids 1-mile races which again Sutton took the title in the form of the impressive Bobby Birkett, and he was followed by Harry Griffiths in third and Lily Birkett as third girl, and Charlie Griffiths in 5th.

Sunday saw the Griffiths brothers also take first and third at the Liverpool Running Bugs Run for Rhys 1-mile race.

On the track Charlie Roberts added to his impressive medal haul for the summer with a third place finish at the England Championships, in a tightly run race.

Many of the other junior athletes competed at the final Cheshire League match wrapping up their seasons in style with a host of PBs and season best performances.
