LAST Sunday saw the annual running of the St. Helens Sutton A.C. Dream Trail Races, with a sell-out entries across the two distances, 5k and 10k races.

After a heavy downpour at 9am the rain cleared for the start of the 5k race. Will Kozer of Widnes Running Club was first home, followed by Stuart Johnson of Spectrum Striders and Kevin Cornwell, in the women’s race Zoe Gmerek of Sale Harriers retained her title from last year, while in second was Lisa Gawthorne of LPS, and third place was Suttons own Jade Smith.

Widnes also took the team title for the 5k.

In the 10k St. Helens Striders went one- two in the men’s race with David Wilson winning his first race, and Dan Cheetham in second, Richard Davis of Wirral AC rounded out the top three.

In the lady’s race, Claire Andrew of Spectrum Striders finished first ahead of a close battle between second and third by Tiffany Moorcroft and Caroline Barrow. St Helens Striders also took the team win.
